This course is for students of the Bachelor programmes Industry 4.0 Informatics (II) and Media Informatics (MI). Contents are fundamentals of information theory according to Shannon, sources and channels, source coding, channel coding, error-detecting and error-correcting codes, linear and cyclic codes, modern symmetric encryption methods, hash functions and message authentication codes, public-key cryptography, selected cryptographic protocols.
